24 May News: Peak District catering, loaded fries special and more Lego dates!

Well we are nearly through May already. That seems to have gone fast. Last week we were serving-up food from the cafe for 39 school children and their teachers on their residential visit to Lockerbrook which is a lovely place to visit. The kids seemed to have a ball - and the teachers looked a little frayed round the edges at the end... so all is as it should be. Such a nice contrast to the quietness when the centre was shut throughout covid.

We're looking forward to content club this evening - and Sunday Brunch Jazz to ease us into half term. And I've just met with Maria and John, our lovely lego volunteers, to plan our upcoming dates for Lego Family Sundays - see below if this interests you!

Tues 24th May Content Club, free
Sunday 29th May Sunday Jazz Brunch 11 am to 2 pm £20/£10 BOOK
Fri 3rd June Lunchtime Jazz 12.30 - 2 pm Free - but get here early!

Lockerbrook
Last week we provided catering for a school party staying at Lockerbrook, the former hill farm above Lady Bower reservoir which is now run by the young people's charity Woodcraft Folk. The kids spent their days climbing, abseiling, scrambling and exploring high in the Peak District and the sun shone for them. They woofed down substantial breakfasts featuring gluten free Moss Valley Sausages in great numbers and Our Cow Molly organic milk. They consumed equally large quantities of John St Kitchen home baked brownies and lemon drizzle cake over the two days. With all the debate around the quality of school catering, it is lovely to be in a position to feed them on home baked, locally sourced food for the days they are at Lockerbrook. (ps Lockerbrook is available to hire and the funds help to support the charity).

Our expanded menu is proving popular with nutella pancakes among the new favourites. Yum. We are working on a dedicated gluten free and vegan menu next ...so if you have any requests now would be a great time to tell us! We'd love to hear your favourites.
