Tenant Profile: EYEYE Opticians

Some of our newest tenants are the lovely folk at Eyeye who’ve taken on and renovated the unit previously used by 4eyes patisserie. If you’re looking for something sexy, stylish or #OutdoorCity practical (or all three) then give Eyeye a shout or stop by and say hello.

Here’s our Q&A which gives a sneaky peak into their world.

How would you describe what you do?

Very independent opticians

Why did you create your business?

Disliked the up-selling, rushed eye test offer that people have got used to when they get specs.

Where does your name come from?

Endless contemplating of punning names and then decided to make a word up that looked nice as a logo

Any defining moments?

Hanging up our Barnard Castle sign - says that we have opinions and people liked it.

What do you love about running a small business?

Employees have to laugh at my “jokes” and letting people bring bikes in and wearing shorts.

What do you like least?

Nothing ...

Any tips for anyone thinking of setting up on their own?

GO FOR IT* (*but, plan the money out)

What would you say to anyone else running/setting up a small independent business thinking about getting a unit at Harland Works? What works (or not!) for you being here?

Great to have a supportive community around who can help in so many ways

What's your favourite social media platform and how do you feel it works best for you in building a relationship and community with your customers?

Twitter @EyeyeSheffield - made good friends in Sheffield via it and attracted customers too who like bikes, dogs, beer, sustainability and poetry ...
