Open Studio throughout May

Open Studio is a lovely annual event in Sheffield where you can plot a route around artists studios in the city over a couple of weekends as artists welcome people into their work places.

This year it has adapted to Covid. Instead of being open for a couple of weekends, it’s open for the whole of May. Some studios are offering people the option to visit in person (you need to pre-book) and some are offering some virtual visits. There are over 100 artists participating with many lovely things to enjoy on display.

At Harland Works, two of our tenants are participating: you can book to visit the Fallen Giants Studio and talk to Johnny about how he makes beautiful, bespoke furniture from ‘found’ pieces of wood. And you can book to have a peek inside Sincerely Louise’s studio (on the top floor) and see her amazing display wall of knitted animal heads! Louise has published several books, with her latest one First Time Knits helping absolute beginners get going with interesting knits (you can even get a signed copy 😍).

This is a great way to get to know - and support - some of Sheffield’s amazingly creative artists and craftsmen as lockdown lifts and we all start to feel easier about going out and about more.
