Repair Cafe back for 2026 😊🍰🔧🔨
After a bit of a break in 2025 when we didn’t have a venue to run our Repair Cafe in, I’m delighted to say that our Repair Cafe is back for 2026 as a result of an exciting new partnership with the Sheffield Hackspace.
The Hackspace is full of like minded people who are keen to join forces with us and offer their space - and their expertise - to help offer support to those of you who want to get things repaired!
We’re going to start with our first one on Sunday February 15th 2026 from 2 to 4.30 pm and then aim to run them on the 3rd Sunday afternoon of the month through 2026 (apart from August and December). Dates and more info are now available on the Repair Cafe page of the website and I look forward to being able to update this pictures and news of repairs as we go through the year.
Just a note to say that the Hackspace is an amazing facility in our neighbour building Portland Works. It is equipped with lots of tools which will make the repairers job easier - but it is a little less accessible than when we used to use the Cafe at Harland Works as our base. To get to the main repair section you have to climb a flight of steep wooden steps. If this is an issue for you we’ll do our best to help - but we wanted to let you know.
If you’d like to volunteer to help our 1 x a month Repair Cafe we are looking for some more volunteer repairers and also - very importantly - some one to help with our welcome desk and the admin involved in running the cafe. It’s good fun - and if that could be you please get in touch!
If you have something to repair and you’d like to try out the Repair Cafe you can just come along. Items are looked at in the order people arrive so sometimes there’s a bit of time to wait until we can get to your item - so please bear that in mind. It’s also worth checking our our tips about what we can help with before coming, just to make sure your journey won’t be wasted.
