Harland Works Repair Cafe @ Sheffield Hackspace
Next cafe: Sunday 19th April, 2–4.30pm hosted at Sheffield Hackspace, Portland Works, Randall Street, Sheffield S2 4SJ
Bring along something broken and our volunteer fixers will help you repair it — completely free. No appointment needed, just turn up!
What to expect
We run on the 3rd Sunday of each month, 2–4.30pm. When you arrive, we'll add your item to the list and our repairers will work through it in order of arrival — so allow a little time to wait if it's busy. It's a friendly, relaxed afternoon and we'll always do our best to help.
We regularly fix:
Household electrical items (toasters, hoovers, coffee makers, printers…)
Laptops and mobile phones
Sewing and clothing repairs
Knife sharpening
Bike repairs
Wooden items
We can't fix everything, but if you're unsure whether to make the trip, feel free to get in touch the week before — by then we'll know which volunteers are coming and what skills are available. Call 07967 144230 or email info@harlandworks.co.uk.
Tip: Bring batteries, a spare bulb, or the plug if relevant, so you can test the repair on the spot!
Where to find us
We're at Sheffield Hackspace inside Portland Works, Randall Street, S2 4SJ — just around the corner from Harland Works.
A few things to know about the venue:
Access is via steep wooden stairs, so please bear that in mind if mobility is a concern
On-street parking is free on Sundays
There's no café on site, but we're happy to offer a cup of tea while you wait — and there are local cafés nearby we can point you to
It's free — but donations are welcome
Everyone is welcome and there's no charge. Our volunteers give their time for free, but we do have running costs (including £300 a year for insurance), so if you're able to leave a small donation it really helps us keep going.

About Repair Cafes
Repair Cafes are part of a global green movement to help people repair rather than replace. We started ours in September 2022 and have carried out around 60 repairs since — you can see the full list on our blog. We've also had some lovely press coverage in The Sheffield Tribune and The Star.
