Mother's Day Repair Cafe
Thanks to everyone who came along to our monthly Repair Cafe which happened to fall on Mother’s Day this month. We had 11 repairs requested, and managed to successfully fix 8 of them with the help of our skilled volunteer repairers. Robin helped Nicola and her mum Jean by repairing a broken wooden chair and an ornamental wishing well from the garden. Hannah also did a sewing repair to fix Nicola’s camera bag. Gareth (visiting from Reyt Repair) helped BK with a faulty hoover. Steven fixed Matt’s bluetooth speaker and helped Sophy with her robo hoover (the on switch needed turning on!). Gordon helped Lisa with an antique toy that needed lots of time to fix. Hannah also repaired a rip in Elizabeth’s bag and Simon (with friends) sharpened a knife for Sophy. Many thanks to Elizabeth who volunteered on the welcome desk and Alfie (and his friend Alex) for helping set up and making sure everything ran smoothly in the Sheffield Hackspace space.
The Repair Cafe runs on the 3rd Sunday of the Month and is kindly hosted by Sheffield Hackspace at Portland Works. More info is on our Repair Cafe web page
